'Why is Congress afraid to criticise BJP government?’: Akhil Gogoi at Assam's Betbari rally

The Raijor Dal organised a large public rally at the Betbari High School playground in Dimow constituency, demanding that people who were allegedly left out of the Assam government’s Rs 15,000 one-time flood relief assistance be provided their rightful dues.

The rally was organised to highlight the grievances of flood-affected families who, according to the organisers, have been deprived of the one-time financial assistance announced by the government for flood victims.

Addressing the gathering, Raijor Dal president and Sivasagar MLA Akhil Gogoi strongly criticised the Congress and Left parties, questioning why the Congress leadership was allegedly hesitant to take on the BJP government more strongly.

Gogoi also referred to Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, Leader of Opposition Debabrata Saikia and MLA Wazed Ali Choudhury, and argued that the Opposition should play a more effective role in challenging the BJP-led government on issues affecting the people.

The Raijor Dal demanded that every eligible flood-affected family receive the Rs 15,000 one-time assistance, while calling for a fresh review of the list of beneficiaries to identify those who were allegedly excluded.

The party also demanded that the government ensure justice for all genuinely affected families and take corrective measures wherever eligible beneficiaries have been left out.

The rally saw participation from local residents and supporters of the Raijor Dal, with the party reiterating its demand for greater accountability in the distribution of flood relief.
