Wild elephant damages house in Assam's Kaliabor, four-member family escapes unhurt

A wild elephant went on a rampage at Line No. 5 of Kaliabor Tea Estate in the early hours of Wednesday, September 2, damaging a residential house while the family members were asleep.

The elephant broke into the house of Arun Goud, a resident of the tea estate, and caused extensive damage to the property. It also damaged the kitchen and consumed rice, pulses and other food items stored inside.

A four-member family living in the house narrowly escaped with their lives during the incident.

Hearing the commotion, local residents gathered at the spot and managed to drive the elephant away by bursting firecrackers.

The incident has once again raised concerns among residents over the growing threat posed by wild elephants in the area.
