"Will protest if UCC Bill goes against religious practices, Islam": Congress MLA Nurul Huda
Congress MLA Nurul Huda on Monday, May 25 said the party would examine the provisions of the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) Bill before deciding its course of action, adding that the Congress would oppose the legislation if it was found to be against religious practices, particularly Islam.
Speaking to the media in Guwahati, Huda stated that the party would first study the contents of the Bill after its introduction in the Assam Legislative Assembly.
“We will take a look at what the Bill is, and if it is against religions, Islam, we will protest against it,” he said.
Commenting on the rise in fuel prices, the Congress legislator alleged that the increase was being implemented after the elections to benefit oil companies. He further claimed that fuel prices were increasing on a daily basis.
“It is increasing each day. The government had decided to hike the prices after the elections, for the benefit of the oil companies. The companies are working hand in glove with the government,” Huda alleged.
The remarks come amid political discussions surrounding the proposed UCC Bill in Assam and growing concerns among opposition parties over fuel price fluctuations.
