"Will quit politics if Congress wins 50 per cent of Panchayat seat", says Assam minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass

A meeting took place at Vajpayee Bhavan in Guwahati on April 3 where BJP Assam Pradesh leaders and spokespersons convened under the leadership of Panchayat and Rural Development minister Ranjeet Kumar Dass. The discussions centered on preparations for the upcoming Panchayat elections, with emphasis on strategy, rural development, and voter outreach.

During the meeting, Ranjeet Dass made a bold political statement, asserting that if the Congress secures more than 50 per cent of the seats in the elections, he would retire from politics.

The gathering also focused on key developmental initiatives, with Das emphasizing the party’s commitment to ensuring adequate housing for all, eliminating makeshift dwellings, and creating sustainable living conditions in rural areas.

Women’s empowerment was a significant topic of discussion, with leaders deliberating on ways to make women self-reliant rather than mere beneficiaries of government schemes. In addition, measures were explored to support rural farmers, ensuring they can bring their produce to the market without incurring any additional fees, thereby boosting agricultural sustainability and profitability.

A crucial aspect of the meeting was BJP’s electoral strategy, particularly in Dhubri and Mankachar, where the party is keen on securing a decisive victory. While acknowledging the challenges, Dass stated that although winning all seats may not be feasible, the party remains committed to maximizing its electoral gains. BJP leaders also reiterated their goal of empowering 30 lakh women across Assam, marking it as a central focus of their campaign.

The meeting further highlighted that the Panchayat elections will serve as a semi-final for the upcoming Assembly elections, with the party positioning itself strategically for future political battles.

As the discussions concluded, Ranjeet Dass extended congratulations to Congress, however, when asked about the Waqf Board, he refrained from making any comments, citing a lack of in-depth knowledge on the subject.
