Woman's gold chain snatched by bike-borne miscreant in Assam's Kokrajhar

A woman was allegedly robbed of her gold chain by a bike-borne snatcher in Assam's Kokrajhar town on the evening of June 26.

The incident took place on Railway Station Road when the victim, identified as Chandana Roy, was returning to her nearby residence after visiting her aunt, Bishnu Roy, near the Kokrajhar Railway Station.

According to reports, an unidentified motorcycle-borne miscreant snatched the gold chain from Chandana Roy's neck and fled the scene.

Following the incident, police have launched an investigation and collected CCTV footage from the area to identify and trace the accused.

Meanwhile, local residents have raised concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation around the railway station, alleging that the area has long been plagued by open consumption of alcohol and narcotic substances. They also claimed that poor street lighting and the lack of regular police patrolling have made the locality vulnerable to such crimes.
