"Won't let Pakistan succeed": Gaurav Gogoi extends support to Centre after Pahalgam attack

Assam Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi reiterated the party’s support for a unified national response to Pakistan, aiming to thwart its attempts to destabilise Jammu & Kashmir and India.

His comments come in the wake of the recent terror attack on Hindu pilgrims in Pahalgam which claimed 26 lives.

Gogoi strongly condemned the incident, stating, "We have condemned this horrific terrorist attack in the strongest possible terms. We want a strong reaction from the Government of India, and in this regard, the Congress has extended its full support."

Informing that an all-party meeting was held on April 24, he added, “Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi were present and extended their full support to the government.”

Highlighting the strategic and touristic significance of Pahalgam, Gogoi stressed the importance of accountability. “We are aware that there is a three-tier security network in J&K. Pahalgam is extremely popular with tourists, so there needs to be justice and accountability,” he said.

Gogoi expressed condolences to the families of the victims and called for national unity in the face of external threats. “At this time, our condolences are with the bereaved families. We understand the intention of Pakistan is to destabilise J&K and India. We will not let Pakistan succeed and will ensure that Jammu and Kashmir, and the rest of India, remain united, peaceful, and prosperous.”

The Pahalgam terror attack has prompted nationwide outrage, with calls for swift justice and enhanced security measures across the region.
