Won't negotiate with any party, will fight independently: BPF chief Hagrama Mohilary

Hagrama Mohilary, the president of the Bodoland People's Front (BPF), expressed optimism about their preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. According to Mohilary, the party is leading in both Darang and Udalguri Lok Sabha constituencies, with a firm belief in securing victories in both areas. He announced plans to unveil the official candidates in March, emphasizing the party's independent stance and confirming no negotiations with either the Congress or the BJP.

Meanwhile, a celebratory atmosphere enveloped Kokrajhar as the BPF took the initiative to commemorate the 22nd Bodoland Agreement Day. The schedule included a morning homage paid by Hagrama Mohilary at the statue of Badofa in the BTC secretariat premises. The national flag was raised at 9:45 am at The Bodoland Martyrs' Convention ground in Deborgaon, with Mohilary leading tributes to the martyrs.

Despite the festivities, criticism was directed at the present BTC (Bodoland Territorial Council) government for allegedly neglecting the historic significance of Bodoland Accord Day. Mohilary lamented the lack of respect shown by the current government towards the martyrs, stressing the importance of remembering the sacrifices made.

Reflecting on the broader political landscape, Mohilary credited the Bodoland Accord Day for Pramod Boro's current position of power. He pledged the BPF's enduring respect for the dignity of martyrs and confidently declared their intent to win both seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.

Addressing to media, Mohilary asserted, "Our party is leading in both constituencies, and we are confident of winning. We stand independently and will not negotiate with Congress or BJP. Our focus is on serving the people and upholding the legacy of the Bodoland Accord Day."
However, Mohilary acknowledged public discontent due to what he referred to as Pramod Boro's lies. He urged people to support the BPF in the upcoming elections, emphasizing their commitment to addressing public concerns and securing victories for the party. The dynamic political scenario continues to unfold as the elections draw near.
