Youth detained in connection with mysterious death of married woman in Dibrugarh

A youth has been detained by police in connection with the mysterious death of a married woman at Lengapathar in the Bogibeel area of Assam’s Dibrugarh district, officials said.

The detained person has been identified as Akash Rahman, who was reportedly absconding after the incident. He was apprehended by Barbariua police from the Bakul area of Dibrugarh during a late-night operation on May 28 based on specific inputs gathered during the investigation.

The case relates to the mysterious death of Yasmin Laskar Rahman, which had triggered widespread sensation in the locality. Following the incident, family members of the deceased lodged an FIR at Barbariua Police Station alleging foul play.

On Friday, members of Yasmin’s family arrived at the police station as part of the ongoing investigation. An emotional scene unfolded when police brought Akash Rahman to the station after medical examination. Yasmin’s mother broke down in tears and questioned the accused over the death of her daughter.

Meanwhile, one of the deceased woman’s friends also levelled several serious allegations while speaking to the media.

The incident has sparked tension and public outrage across the area. Police said further investigation into the case is underway.
