Youth drowns in Brahmaputra while trying to save mother in Assam's Sualkuchi

A tragic incident has been reported from Assam's No-Keot Para in East Sualkuchi, where a young man drowned in the Brahmaputra River while attempting to save his mother.

 

The deceased has been identified as Himanshu Malakar.

According to reports, his mother, who was suffering from mental health issues, allegedly attempted to take her own life by jumping into the river.

 

On noticing the situation, the youth rushed to rescue her but was swept away in the strong current and drowned.

 

Police said search operations are underway by the Sualkuchi River Police, but his body has not yet been recovered.

 

To intensify efforts, the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) has been alerted and is expected to assist in the ongoing search operation.
