Heroin worth Rs. 1 crore seized in Aizawl; 2 arrested

AIZAWL: Assam Rifles and the narcotics department of Mizoram today seized a large consignment of heroin worth almost Rs. 1 crore in the state capital Aizawl today. Two suspected smugglers have also been apprehended by the officials.

"A joint operation carried out by Assam Rifles and Excise and Narcotics Department, Aizawl recovered 207 grams of heroin no. 4, in general area Thuampui Veng near Thuampui Helipad, Aizawl today," an official informed.

According to officials, the operation was carried out by a joint team of Assam Rifles and the Excise & Narcotics department of Aizawl based on specific information.

According to estimates, the approximate cost of the recovered heroin is around Rs. 93 lakh.

"As the Excise & Narcotics Department, Aizawl seized the contraband item, they also detained Two individuals," the release further stated.
