JAKARTA: Two suspected suicide bombers blew themselves up outside a Catholic church in the Indonesian city of Makassar on Sunday, injuring fourteen people.

According to police, the congregation was inside the church on the Indonesian island of Sulawesi at the time of the blast, just as the mass was coming to an end.

Authorities are investigating which extremist networks the bombers belonged to and if the attack was related to recent arrests of suspected militants, said a national police spokesman.

It needs mention here that counter-terrorism unit raided a jihadist hideout in Makassar in January and killed two men suspected of involvement in twin bombings at a Philippine church in 2019 in which as many as 20 people were killed.

According to Father Wilhemus Tulak, a priest at the church, a suspected bomber tried to enter the church grounds on a motorcycle but was blocked by a security guard.

The video footage from security cameras shows an explosion that blew flames, smoke, and rubble into the center of the lane.'
