GANGTOK: A total of 2,765 persons were tested by the Sikkimese Health Department on Tuesday out of which 250 tested positive for the COVID-19.

Three more Covid casualties were reported today, all the STNM hospital in Gangtok. The Covid death toll in Sikkim has now reached 260.

The district-wise Covid load is 100 cases in the east district, 41 cases in the west district, 107 cases in the south district, and two in the north district.

In the south district, several cases were reported from in and around Jorethang, and Temi area.

The State’s active Covid tally is 4103, said the Health Department on Wednesday.

Meanwhile, 136 persons successfully recovered from Covid on Tuesday.

At present, there are 228 Covid patients admitted in 3 hospitals here – STNM hospital (159), Mangan hospital (14), and CRH Manipal (55).

In another concerning development reported in the Northeast, Manipur detected its first two cases of black fungus on June 1.

One of the two patients succumbed to the infection on Tuesday evening, while the other a 45-year-old patient is said to be in critical condition and is currently admitted at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Imphal.
