DIMAPUR: Seven Nikki Sumi group NSCN (K) cadres and four overground workers, as well as one NSCN (IM) cadre, were detained by security forces and police in a joint operation here in Dimapur.
The Nikki Sumi group's cadres and overground workers were apprehended in Thilixu village yesterday according to a defence release, while the NSCN (IM) cadre was apprehended in the Burma Camp region in June 22.
On the basis of specific information, security forces and police launched a joint operation and caught the Nikki Sumi group's seven cadres and four overground workers who were reportedly running an illegal mess and extortion activities on the NS Highway module. They were found with three.32 pistols and magazines, 25.32 live ammo, and several incriminating documents.
The apprehended individuals along with recovered items have been handed over to Diphupar Police Station for further investigation.
The release said the NSCN (IM) cadre who was apprehended at Burma Camp was involved in supplying arms and ammunition.
One .22 pistol and three .22 live ammunition were recovered from him. He was handed over to the East police station.
