GUWAHATI: Jonathan Ao, Vice President of the Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) passed away in Guwahati, Assam, earlier today. He was undergoing treatment at GNRC Guwahati after suffering a serious head injury in a road accident 5 days ago at Dimapur town.
Condoling his demise, Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee, said, "His death has sent deep shockwaves among Congress rank and file as he was one among the few remaining diehard party loyalist who grew up from party's youth organizational ranks and remained strongly rooted in the secular ideology and principles of Indian National Congress till his last breath."

Terming the deceased as an "excellent orator who possessed natural ability to be comfortable with both young and old", the NPCC added that Ao was an "indispensable asset for the party and was loved by everyone irrespective of age, position and beyond party affiliation, for which he will always be remembered."
"PCC President Shri K Therie along with all Congress men and women extend heartfelt condolences to Mrs lanuienla Lemtur and children on the irreparable loss of her beloved husband and a loving father. We pray that the Almighty God will give them the strength and solace in their hour of grief.
May the departed soul rest in peace," the communique added.
