Gangtok: An 82-year-old grandmother has become the oldest woman in Sikkim to do a tandem paraglide after she took to the skies from Aangi Gumba Monastery paragliding take off point in Ranka on Wednesday.
Lepcha is a house wife and has no health issues.
The adventurous granny flew with her family and with the instructor Nima Tamang.
They took off from the Sikkim Paragliding counter which is a professional paraglider service provider. “I just wanted to fly once, now I have fulfilled my dream and I am happy.“ said Lepcha.
This is not the first time she engaged herself in adrenaline rush. Five years back, Lepcha had also done scuba diving in Andaman and Nicobar.
"When I tried Scuba Diving my partner was not able to dive but I was not afraid at all and this time in paragliding also I was not afraid and fearful for a second," she said.
She also said that “flying was comfortable and I enjoyed it.”
Pilot Nima Tamang, full of praise for the zealous lady, said, “I was initially not aware that she is that old; later I came to know she is 82 year old.
During the entire flight, there was no any complaint from her side and she flew normally. Overall, the flight was good."
The pilot reveals that Lepcha wanted to fly for some more time. "She wanted to fly for some more time but I had already directed my glides towards the low atmosphere so. Therefore, I was unable to fulfill her wish."
