In a joint operation launched by Army and Assam Police recovered three IEDs and arrested one Adivasi Dragon Fighter (ADF) militant on Friday from Dhubragaon village in Kokrajhar.
The militant has been identified as Ramajit Hembrom (29), son of
Dhena Hembrom of Dhubragaon village at Karigaon in Kokrajhar.
The joint operation team reached the house of the ADF militant at around 1215 am and cordoned off the area.
The team recovered three IEDs and one kitbag while conducting a search in the house.
The arrested militant has confessed to be a member of Adivasi Dragon Fighter.
Medical examination of the militant was carried out at RNB civil hospital and he was handed over to Police at Karigaon PS. FIR was lodged by Kokrajhar PS by 1 pm today.
Dozens of rebel groups have been fighting the government and sometimes each other for years in seven states in the northeast. They demand greater regional autonomy or independent homelands for the indigenous groups they represent.
About 4,268 civilians, 824 security force personnel and 3,120 terrorists/militants have been killed in Assam state alone in the last three decades.
