Adil Hussain urges Centre to introduce Art education in primary schools

GUWAHATI: Noted actor Adil Hussain has urged the Centre as well as the state governments across the country to introduce Art education in the primary schools to pave the way for coming generations to be better human.

The actor citing about Lionardo Da Vinci’s birthday which celebrated every year on April 15, wrote on Twitter: “I am again Urging the Governments Across the country to introduce Art Education from the preliminary school! It will be a most efficient tool for coming generations to be better Humane.”

Art education is an integral part of the curriculum for the growth of a well-rounded personality in learners. Art is an artistic, positive and enjoyable phase of self-fulfillment that runs across all aspects of life.

Art education helps in the exploration of different modes of communication (verbal and non-verbal). It promotes the development of creative expression as well as the sharpening of senses by careful observation of the environment.

It allows individuals to become more conscious of folk arts, local specific arts and other cultural elements, contributing to a greater understanding of national heritage.

It raises knowledge of different art forms in and around the environment and community, as well as developing skills in the use of various tools, instruments and other art materials in the process of experimentation and exploration.

Art has always been a potent medium for expressing and exploring feelings. During the pandemic, World Art Day is especially important because it helps people cope with stress, especially at a time when people of all ages are forced to live in isolation.

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO) has designated World Art Day. In 2019, the 40th session of UNESCO's general conference declared World Art Day.
