NEW YORK: Followed by his successful flight to space, former Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos announced $200 million dollar awards to recognize "courage and civility' as a part of his philanthropic initiative.
He made the announcement on Tuesday at a press conference where he introduced the first two winners of the award viz. celebrity chef José Andrés and CNN political analyst Van Jones.

Citing the reason for choosing them, Bezos said that they are the "leaders who aim high, pursue solutions with courage and always do so with civility."
Responding to his critics, Bezos in an interview with CNN said that they were right however he still needs to work on the problems that are prevailing on earth and needs to addressed.
"We have lots of problems here on Earth and we have to work on those," he added in a report.
Marking a historic moment in space travel, Bezos made his way to space on his company Blue Origin's New Shepard spacecraft on Tuesday.
