On a two-day visit to the Northeast, Shah laid the foundation stone of the Multipurpose Conference Centre and Exhibition facility in North Eastern Space Application Centre (NESAC) in Umiam, Meghalaya. He also chaired a special meeting with NESAC to review its operations.
During the meeting, the Minister has discussed mapping of forest gap areas and expansion of the land area for horticulture development.
Key ideas including identification & rejuvenation of wetlands, diversion of floodwater and assessment of bamboo resources for livelihood needs were also discussed during the meeting, stated Shah.
Lauding the efforts and dedication of the team, he further said, "NESAC plays a key role in stimulating the overall growth of the North-Eastern region by using space science and technology".
Shah also inaugurated other projects including the Inter-State Bus Terminus (ISBT) and the Cryogenic Oxygen Plant & Pediatric ward at the COVID Step Down Hospital in Shillong.
