ARUNACHAL PRADESH: GOVERNOR TO COMMISSION BLOOD BANK IN EACH DISTRICT

Arunachal Pradesh Governor Brig (Retd) Dr B D Mishra while advocating for availability of blood at the time of emergency cases has asserted on commissioning of a Blood Bank in each district of the State.

Dr Mishra was of the view while attending the World Blood Donor Day celebration at Raj Bhavan, Itanagar on Thursday.

While complementing the voluntary blood donors cum motivators present, he felicitated 138 Bn CRPF, 31 Bn ITBP and 12 Bn NDRF, Doimukh for regularly donating blood by its personnel.

In his speech, the Governor suggested that each and every public representative should contribute for Blood Bank commissioning and running in their respective constituency through their Local Area Development funds, appropriately on ‘need to contribute’ basis in the larger perspective of the public.

He appreciated the efforts of Ramesh Jeke, chairman Arunachal Voluntary Blood Donor Organization, a unit of Arunachal Vivekananda Yuva Shakti in blood donation drive.

Sharing his experiences about blood donation, which he had been doing till his permissible age limit, the Governor said that blood donation is humane act, selfless gesture, need of the society and duty of every citizen. He added that as blood cannot be manufactured, it creates a humane bond amongst the donor and receiver.

The Governor lauded the Doctors, nursing staff and volunteers of Ramakrishna Mission Hospital, Itanagar, State Blood Transfusion Council (SBTC), Arunachal Pradesh State Aids Control Society (APSACS) and blood donors from Central Police Forces and civil societies for being a part for the cause of the society.

Swami Vishweshananda ji, Secretary, Ramakrishna Mission Hospital (Itanagar), Dr M Lego, DHS, Dr Nabam Budh, Dy Director SBTC, Dr Riken Rina, Project Director APSACS and Jeke shared their experiences and challenges in the society about blood donation.

Voluntary blood donors cum motivators Moley Mangfi, RGU, Aping Yakar, Itanagar, Bangram Tungi, East Kameng district, Toko Teji, Papum Pare district, Karge Riba, West Siang district, Habung Gyati, Naharlagun, Hage Gyayo, Lower Subansiri district, Minam Lego, East Siang district and Tah Ama, Papum Pare were also present.

The better half of the Governor, Neelam Misra, Dr Moji Jini, Director, Tomo Riba Institute of Health and Medical Sciences, members, doctors and nursing staff, trainees and volunteers of Indian Red Cross, Arunachal Pradesh branch were present among others.

As many as 92 individuals from NDRF, ITBP, CRPF, AVBDO, Oju Mission, Raj Bhavan, Nursing students from RKMH and NGOs volunteered; of which 84 persons donated blood after medical checkup.

Two persons with O-negative were registered in the Blood Donation Camp, organized by Raj Bhavan in collaboration with AVBDO & APSACS under the aegis of SBTC, said an official release.
