Themed ‘Tobacco Breaks Hearts’, the World No Tobacco Day (WNTD) was on 30th May observed across the length and breadth of the State with a series of programmes to create public awareness about the health risks associated with tobacco use.

According to WHO, tobacco usage kills more than 7 million people around the world each year. Apart from cancer, it causes heart disease, stroke, lung disease, and a host of other health problems. It is one of the leading causes of preventable diseases and deaths.

Every year on this day, WHO and partners mark WNTD, highlighting the health and other risks associated with tobacco use, and advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.
