The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved a loan for the seven district head quarters in Tripura. Rs 1,650 crore will be spent in the next three years to develop seven district headquarters town in the state. The Central government has approved the first installment of the loan.
Seven district quarters towns which will be developed under the ADB loan are Kailasahar of Unokoti District, Dharmanagar of North Tripura District, Ambasa town of Dhalai District, Khowai town of Khowai Distrcit, Belonia of South Tripura District, Udaipur of Gomoti District and Bishramganj of Sepahijala District.

ADB has sanctioned a longterm loan of Rs 1650 crores for upgradation of infrastructure and facilities in seven district headquarters of Tripura. The final nod on approval of the loan was given by the cabinet committee on economic affairs of the government of India. The seven district head quarters towns would get a major push as each town will get 200-250 crore for the infrastructure development.
Official sources stated that the loan amount will spent to upgrade the road and drainage system, water supply, and building other infrastructures development.
The union finance ministry had informed the state government of the sanction of Rs 17.75 crores as the first installment of the loan.
A five member delegation of the Asian Development Bank had visited the state three times before submitting a detailed report on the development requirements of the state. Beside this, the DPR, which was sent by the state government for this loan was also examined by the ADB authority.
