Pramod Bodo, the beloved President of the All Bodo Students' Union (ABSU) has relinquished his post at the student body's convention in Udalguri in Assam, reportedly to begin a new career in politics.

This decision was taken at the end of a two-day "special convention" held by the student body in Udalguri. It is being speculated that Boro, who has been an active player in the BTAD politics, will now officially join politics after the inking of the historic pact between the Government and the .
It may be mentioned here that Pramod Boro had led the apex student organization of the BTAD for 11 years and is hailed for championing the principle of ahimsa in the insurgency-torn region where the demand for a separate state Bodoland has been echoed by insurgents for several decades.
"In today's date, all the tribes and communities want the implementation of the BTR treaty", an ABSU member told mediapersons, hinting that Boro will enter the political field to ensure the implementation of every single clause of the treaty.

The members of the ABSU bade a teary-eyed farewell to their former President, and prominent politician U G Brahma was also present at the farewell ceremony.
Meanwhile, Dipen Boro and Lorence Islary have been named as the new President and General Secretary, of the ABSU, respectively.
