‘Cleanliness must be an integral part of our lives and a movement must be build up to make Hailakandi one of the cleanest districts of India’, said Deputy Commissioner, Hailakandi, Adil Khan on Wednesday.
Inaugurating a district level training programme under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin) organised by the Public Health Engineering, Hailakandi division at Rabindra Bhawan in Hailakandi town, Khan appealed to the members of PRIs, students, social workers, media persons and people from all walks of life to work relentlessly towards creating an enabling environment to make Hailakandi a clean and green district of India.
Khan said all out efforts must be made towards the cleanliness campaign launched across the country. “There was a time when the satyagrahis at the clarion call of Mahatma Gandhi plunged headlong into freeing the country from the yoke of British imperialism. In this context, the Deputy Commissioner said that each and every citizen must be conscious enough to ensure cleanliness.
Khan disclosed that many Individual Household Latrines (IHHLs) built under the Swachh Bharat Mission have been damaged due to the recent deluge and a survey is on following which repair and renovation of the toilets would be carried out.
