ASSAM: DEMAND FOR KAMATAPUR STATEHOOD

A Maha Sabha for the Demand of Kamatapur statehood was organised with a participation of more than 3000 people  by AKRASU Bongaigaon and Chirang in Gandhi maidan Bongaigaon field. The Chief Guests of the Sabha were RTI activist Akhil Gogoi and former AKRASU president Biswajit Rai. Along with them many member of other organizations were present in the sabha to support the cause of Kamatapur. In the Sabha the president of AKRASU stated that the people of the Koch Rajbanshi were deprived from their rights. According to the members of Koch Rajbongshi, the current  BJP govt. promised them that the Demand of Separate statehood of Kamatapur and ST Status will be fulfilled in the 2014 election. But it was not for which the Koch Rajbanshi people feel betrayed. Organising this Maha Sabha, AKRASU  also wants to convey a message to the govt. that they will fight for their cause and the if the govt. does not support their cause they fight in the coming elections of 2019.
