7 July 2018:

The District Vigilance and Monitoring Committee reviewed the status of progress of flagship schemes in Hailakandi district.

MP Radheshyam Biswas, while monitoring the progress of 28 flagship schemes, urged the panel to ensure all flagship programmes are implemented in a time-bound manner and also to ensure transparency and quality implementation.

The Chairperson underscored the need to remove difficulties in implementation at the block level to promote synergy and convergence for greater impact and, more importantly, to ensure that schemes are implemented as per the guidelines. “Efforts must be made to ensure the participation of people’s representatives at all levels for timely implementation of flagship programmes,” he said.

Biswas urged the Divisional Forest Officer to furnish the report so that 1600 beneficiaries living in forest areas could be selected under PMAY-G.

The panel expressed dissatisfaction over the tardy progress in implementation of Pradhan Mantri UJJWALA Yojana by APDCL. The Chairperson instructed the officials of APDCL to gear up extension of electrification to more and more rural households.

Chief Executive Officer, Zila Parishad, NK Shantee Kumar Singha informed the panel that block development officers have been already instructed to prepare schemes on flood protection under MGNREGA as per the new guidelines issued by the government on July 4 last.

The Chairperson also reviewed the status of progress of Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana, Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana, Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana, Digital India, Swachh Bharat Mission, besides infrastructure related programmes like highways, telecom, banking, etc.

Earlier, CEO Singha gave an overview of the different flagship schemes being implemented in the district.

The meeting was attended, among others, by MLAs of Hailakandi, Algapur and Katlicherra, Member Secretary of the panel cum Deputy Commissioner, Adil Khan and heads of all concerned departments.
