Assam Transport Minister Chandra Mohan Patowary has said that the state government is planning to connect Guwahati with six South Asian countries by the end of December this year.
Attending the ASEAN section of the 2nd Guwahati International Film Festival (GIFF), Patowary said that the government are focused to increase connectivity between Assam and South Asia.
Patowary said that a tri-lateral highway has also been planned and construction of the same is almost done. This will be from Afghanistan to Burma via India. An inter-country agreement to enhance waterways in the region has also been signed, he added.
The minister further said that rail, road, water and air connectivity will contribute to the overall development of the region.
