The All Bodo Students Union with the “Mission Quality Education 2007-2020” is continuously working towards the betterment of the quality of education and performance of the students from the Bodo Medium Schools in the state. This initiative to change the need for quality education studying in the vernacular medium was started since 2007 by taking a state wide bi-cycle rally of more than 2400kms by ABSU volunteers after declaring ‘Year of Education’ in 2006 and spreading awareness for the need of education in the society especially touching the rural Bodo villages.

Continuing this mission with the Mission Quality Education since 2007, the activities at wide angle has been started to reach all sections of society with special focus on students studying with the Bodo Medium. Taking intense activities and keeping in view the performance level of the education system with problem identification amongst the students, teachers and guardians to spread awareness for the need of quality education. The action plan program was carried out such as Career Counseling, Motivation, Summer Coaching Camps, Venture School support in teaching, Teachers Meet, Guardians Meet, Intellectual Meet, Seminars and group discussions reaching every nook and corner of the Bodo Medium Schools in the state. The Central Talent Search Examination is also conducted amongst the Class IX and X Students to test the preparation for any type of exams in future. Those successful top students are felicitated by ABSU every year.

The focus to understand the performance of the students from the Bodo medium schools was done by taking the cumulative result of every year in HSLC conducted by SEBA since 2006. Those who secured First Division are counted in total from entire state and amongst them the Top Ten with the highest scores in percentage are selected for the Felicitation of Award with the title “The Kamal Kumar Brahma Derhasat Bantha”. Till this day this award has been conferred to 147 students with high scores in First Divisions from Bodo medium exclusively since 2006. This year (2018) 12 Students have been selected in the Top Ten rank for the award names are given with the enclosures.

On the other hand there is very much hardship faced by the students from the Bodo Medium education from Nursery to PG due to the negligence by the Government of Assam. The problems such as Delay in Supply of Textbooks for Bodo Medium, Non-Appointment of Maths and Sciences Teachers in the Bodo Medium Schools. Moreover, there is large number of vacant post of teachers from Primary to High Schools which makes very difficult to better the performance from the Bodo medium Schools. Though there has been time and again representation to the state government to solve the problems there is least attention drawn towards solving it. Due to these problems the Bodo Medium students cannot outperform to get top Ten Position in the state under SEBA. Except one in 2017 HSLC at Rank 10 in Assam by Bibungsar Basumatary.

The ongoing activities of the Mission Quality Education will continue with various additional new initiative such as to ensure that no Student from the Bodo medium will be detained or fail in exam, for that No Fail is used as slogan to ensure that the Students perform their best quality learning to pass every exam they face with their hard work and perseverance, on the other the ABSU is conducting career survey reaching every individual student, to ensure the aims and objectives of the student succeed through the career specific orientation, which will be conducted by ABSU continuously.

The ABSU on this auspicious occasion sends strong message to the state government of Assam that there needs more support for the betterment and quality education performance by the Bodo Medium Students in the state. Further, the pass percentage comparatively with madrassa in Assam is much higher from Bodo medium. The Union urge the Government to consider separate Directorate for the Bodo Medium in Assam towards taking care of the problems in BM Education in Assam, which will also begin the scope of Top Ten Selection from Bodo Medium Separately under the state government to encourage the vernacular medium students.
