AIZAWL: The Aizawl Battalion of the 23 Sector Assam Rifles, under the aegis of Headquarters Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) along with excise and narcotics department officials siezed 109 gram of heroin (No-4) in Thuampui in Mizoram on March 16 and 17 and nabbed five persons in this connection.

On the first day they recovered 48 gram of heroin (No-4) and on the second day they recovered 61 gram of heroin (No-4). The seized contraband include heroin valued at approximately Rs 50 lakh, police said.
Assam Rifles apprehended four men and one woman and handed them over to police.
“Series of successful joint operation conducted by #AssamRifles and Excise & Narcotics Department in Mizoram on 16/17 Mar led to recovery of 109 gms of Heroin in total worth approx. Rs 50 Lakhs. Apprehended drug peddlers were handed over to the Police,” Assam Rifle tweeted.
