AIZAWL: A new ray of hope came from remote rural areas of Tamei Sub Division in Tamenglong district of Manipur when Assam Rifles of Tamenglong Battalion under the aegis of Spear Corps extended their support for repair of the vital Tamei - Dikhuiram road connecting far-flung villages both in Manipur and Nagaland.

 

44 Assam Rifles under the aegis of 22 Sect AR/ IGAR(EAST) took the initiative in the absence of any government assistance to repair this damaged road linking as many as 35 villages in the hinterland and began repairing the link road.

The locals from Dikhuiram village also pledged to work tirelessly in the sunlight, leaving behind their farm jobs and joined hands with the forces to change the fate of several villages in the hinterland, taking motivation from the Assam Rifles' initiative.

 

The repair work was started on October 12, 2020, and the 22 kms road stretch was completed within 85 days on January 4.

 

The road was inaugurated and dedicated to the locals of the area on February 9.
