AIZAWL: In yet another success in its crusade against smuggling activities, Serchhip Battalion of 23 Sector Assam Rifles, seized 12 Cases of foreign origin cigarettes in general area Chhungte in Mizoram on Wednesday.
Based on a specific information, a team of Assam Rifles along with Customs Preventive Force Champhai carried out a joint operation.

The estimated cost of the seized cigarettes is around Rs 15,60,000.
The customs preventive force detained one individual apart from seizing the illegal goods.
The ongoing smuggling of drugs is a major cause of concern for the state of Mizoram especially along the India-Myanmar Border.
Speaking about the influx of refugees from the border, Miozram CM Zoramthanga on Tuesday said that Mizoram will take in Myanmar refugees and provide them with shelter and basic amenities.
He made the announcement during his meeting with the Young Mizo Association on the occasion of its 86th anniversary on Tuesday.
“Young Mizo Association (YMA), the largest NGO in Mizoram remains synonymous with selflessness and integrity due to unceasing efforts in helping the needy, promoting education, environmental protection and social betterment", said the CM.
