Assam Rifles seized Heroin worth Rs. 2.24 crore in the Moreh-Imphal route. Based on specific information regarding the move of drugs and contraband items from Moreh to Imphal, Assam Rifles launched an operation at the Movement of Vehicle Check Post near Khudengthabi post on the NH 102 from Imphal to Moreh on Wednesday.
The team stopped a suspicious Econ Van along with the driver, identified as Salam S Singh (41).
On carrying out a thorough check, a huge quantity of heroin powder and brown sugar worth Rs 2.24 crore were recovered from the vehicle. Along with that, a drug smuggler and a peddler were arrested from different places of the state.

The apprehended and the seized items were handed over to the appropriate authority for further investigations, a release said here on Friday.
In another operation, Manipur police also arrested one alleged drug peddler, identified as Hibjur Rahaman alias Wangmem Ibothem, (35) along with 15.02 grams of heroin powder. The team also recovered two mobile phones and few containers of safekeeping of the narcotic substances from his possession.
The arrest was made during a raid conducted by the Thoubal district police at a house in Sangaiyumpham Mamang Leikai part I, Thoubal district, SP Dr. Th Ibomcha said.
