Axed Tripura health minister Sudip Roy Barman has made a guarded statement on his ouster from council of ministers.
In a video statement, Sudip Roy Barman said continuing in the ministry depends on the discretion of the chief minister.
“I did my duty with utmost sincerity and honesty; may be I failed to satisfy the chief minister and could not do as much work as he has done and is doing with 24 portfolios in his care; I tried my utmost and did my best but possibly I lag behind him,” a visibly upset Sudip Roy Barman said.
Barman resolved to continue to work for the interest of the people. He asserted that as an MLA, he will try to implement the decision taken by the council of ministers for the people.
He also urged his supporters to keep patience and not to launch agitation on this issue.
"Time always passes through ups and downs; what God delivers is always for the good and we have to do our duties only", Sudip commented.
It may be mentioned that Barman had been axed as Health Minister as Tripura CM Biplab Kumar Deb was allegedly unhappy with Barman for the latter’s ‘anti-party’ activities. Barman had stayed away from campaigning for BJP in the recently concluded LS elections. He even asked voters to vote for ‘eligible candidate’ that did not go down well with the BJP leadership. It was also alleged that Sudip Roy Barman was helping Congress to gain ground in Tripura.
Sudip Roy Barman is the son of former Tripura Chief Minister Samir Ranjan Burman. He had quit Congress two years back and joined the BJP with six Congress legislators ahead of assembly elections held in February 2018.
He is the MLA of Agartala (West Tripura) constituency since 1998 and was a strong contender for the post of Chief Minister.
