SHILLONG: A special consignment of Bangladesh's Haribhanga mangoes has arrived in Meghalaya as a part of prime minister Sheikh Hasina's 'mango diplomacy.'
"Special thanks to Her Excellency, Sheikh Hasina Ji, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Bangladesh for sending us 300kgs of their best Haribhanga mangoes as a goodwill gesture to the State of Meghalaya," the state's chief minister Conrad K Sangma posted in a tweet.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina last Monday sent 300 kg of mangoes to Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb as a goodwill gesture. Bangladesh's Assistant High Commissioner to Agartala Jobaid Hossein received 10 packets of Haribhanga variety of mango from Agartala Land Port.
It needs mention here that Hasina has sent 2,600 kg mangoes as a gift for PM Modi and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee]. The consignment, being carried in Bangladeshi trucks, containing 260 boxes of the famous 'Haribhanga' mangoes crossed the border on Sunday afternoon.
Hasina has plans to send mangoes to chief ministers in northeastern states of Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura, all of which share borders with Bangladesh.
