DHAKA: As many as 185 patients infected with COVID-19 died in Bangladesh in the past 24 hours.
On the other hand, the country reported 8,772 fresh cases of infection during the period pushing the country's COVID caseload to 1,009,315.
Meanwhile, the new fatalities being reported during the period took the death toll due to the virus to 16,189.
Among the total new cases of infection, Dhaka logged 4,492 cases, the highest among the divisions followed by Chittagong with 1,692 cases, Khulna (772), and Rajshahi (620).

Of the new fatalities, the Dhaka division reported 70 fatalities, the highest among the eight divisions, followed by Khulna (51), Chittagong division (20), Rajshahi (13), Rangpur (11), Mymensingh three, Sylhet seven, and Barisal (10).
The fatality rate is 1.6 %.

On the other hand, 5,755 patients across the country recovered from the diseases bringing the total number of recoveries to 868,139.
A total of 27,884 samples were tested across the country, with a 31.46 % positive result.
The overall rate of test positivity is 14.56 %.
