A new controversy has evolved in Sikkim after the Bhaichung Bhutia led Hamro Sikkim party announced 'Sikkimey Samman Yojna'. Under the provisions of the programme, Rs 18,000 per annum or Rs 1,500 per month to be paid to every Sikkimese man, woman, child, student & youth who resides in Sikkim. Bhaichung Bhutia had announced the scheme on Wednesday.
But the ruling Sikkim Democratic Front (SDF) party has blasted Bhaichung’s announcement and claimed that Bhaichung had stolen the policy. Sitting Sikkim Lok Sabha MP Prem Das Rai said: “The scheme which Bhaichung has announced today, SDF had already announced in the month of January and we have already included it in our manifesto. Thus, it is clear that Bhaichung has stolen our policy.”
