AGARTALA: Congress national president Sonia Gandhi has appointed former minister Birajit Sinha as the new president of Tripura Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC).
Sinha has succeded Pijush Kanti Biswas for the same position.
Sinha, who is in Delhi and expected to return today, has the experience of leading the TPCC earlier twice.

Apart from Sinha, AICC has appointed five working presidents namely - Billal Miah, Manik Deb, Sushanta Chakraborty, Punita Chakma and Dr Pradip Bardhan.
The party-state unit has been witnessing a massive exodus of its prominent leaders including party state general secretary Baptu Chakraborty who has joined Trinamool Congress recently.
Later, on September 24, Pijush Kanti Biswas's son and state Youth Congress president Pojan Biswas also resigned from his post.
Tripura to go to polls in 2023 and TMC has already set their eyes to dethrone BJP from the state after their massive victory in West Bengal polls.
