The All Assam Students’ Union General Secretary Lurinjyoti Gogoi on Friday categorically criticized the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) led government, terming it as “dumb and blind”.
Expressing discontentment over the passing of Citizenship (Amendment) Bill turned Act, Lurinjyoti Gogoi said, “Their doing is the cause of what is happening in the state, and they are acting like dumb and blind..”

Claiming that the public treats the Assam BJP leaders as ‘traitors’, Gogoi also alleged that the BJP leadership is ignoring the concerns of the people. “This is the reason why the public calls them Modern Badan. Just like Badan Phukan had destroyed the community, these ‘Modern Badans’, by bringing in illegal Hindu Bangladeshis, are trying to divide Assam.”
“They have issued a notice to silence the teachers and other workers. Isn’t this autocracy?” the students’ body leader questioned.
“The employees have the democratic right to protest and they can’t be deprived of their rights,” he added.

Lashing out at the Government for trying to stifle the voices that are rising against the Citizenship Amendment Act, Lurin said, “Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowala and Himanta Biswa Sarma can dance to the tune of PM Modi and Amit Shah. Assam’s teachers have their own thinking and nobody can snatch away their rights and stand. No notice can stop them from speaking out."
