Agartala, February 15, 2020:

Leader of the opposition in Tripura Manik Sarkar today lashed out at the BJP-led central government for "curbing the rights of SC/ST and underprivileged sections of society".

Speaking at a party rally here in Agartala city he said that the ruling party has forgotten it’s own promises. "People of Tripura know how the Left ruled the state despite limited powers. The BJP came to power in the last assembly elections as they were able to lure the people."

"Despite knowing the fact that Left front is the only party that made Tripura reach where it is standing right now, people consciously voted for BJP believing their pre-poll promises”, said Sarkar.

The 4 time Chief Minister also alleged that the present government was wasting time in mere festivals like Pujas, Yajnas etc. instead of focusing on the real issues.

"What the underprivileged section wants? Stipend for the children, subsidies and other related welfare that they are entitled to. These had been promised by the ruling Bharatiya Janata party before the elections, but they have not delivered..”, Manik charged.

Launching a scathing attack on Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb, Manik said that the CM can be seen touring various places in his private helicopter and attending dinners on taxpayers' dime, but he has scant regard for the poor and marginalized sections.

Challenging the ruling government he said that now people of Tripura had realized that they had committed a mistake in the last assembly election.

Notably, the party’s SC wing has placed a 15 point charter of demand which mainly emphasizes on the development of SC community people.
