Imphal, August 20, 2019:

Apart from giving his approval to the introduction of international flight service between Imphal and Mandalay, Union Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri has asked the Manipur State Government to talk with airlines which are interested in operating Imphal-Mandalay flight service.

The Union Minister gave the okay during a video conference with Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu, Transport Commissioner M Harekrishna and officials of the department this afternoon.

During the video conference, the Union Civil Aviation Minister gave his approval to the idea of introducing Imphal-Mandalay flight service apart from asking the State officials to talk with the airlines interested in operating international flight service on the particular route.

Notably, Myanmar based private airline Air KBZ had already expressed their willingness to operate international flight service between Imphal and Mandalay.

It may be mentioned here that Mandalay is a city and former royal capital in northern Myanmar (formerly Burma) on the Irrawaddy River.
