The cold waves in the Northeastern states have been affected normal life that has descended along with light smog.
With the winter season at its midst in the entire Northeastern region, the foggy atmosphere has gripped making visibility almost poor disrupting air-services in many in Tripura.

On Thursday, the maximum temperature in the day time in Tripura went up to 17 degrees and a minimum temperature of around 10 degrees, the lowest temperature of the current winter season. The maximum temperature on Friday morning recorded was below 14 degrees and the maximum temperature was 20°C.
Tripura had recorded its lowest temperature in winter at 2° C in 1972.
The MET said that cold wave will continue for the next few days across Tripura due to the thick layer of fog present over almost the whole of the state.

As per the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the deep fog layer is moving in the skies of Tripura and this will continue for some more days.
It is to be mentioned here that on Friday, Assam has recorded a temperature of 18 degrees, Meghalaya and Sikkim reported 8 degrees, Arunachal Pradesh 16 degrees, Manipur 13 degrees, and Mizoram 11 degrees.
