SHILLONG: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Friday said that the law and order situation in Shillong city is by and large peaceful.
He informed that the government has been engaging with different stakeholders to ensure that peace prevails in Shillong and normalcy returns.
Reacting to the comments made by leader of Opposition Dr. Mukul Sangma on different aspects of governance, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma said that Congress party is desperate and is only making moves to topple the government.
He said that Mukul is making desperate comments.
Chief Minister informed that some Congress MLAs had called him to apologize because they are ashamed of the way Dr. Mukul Sangma has been making comments. He said that the leadership in Congress is not there and the behavior of Dr. Mukul is shameful for the party.
“Dr. Mukul has been trying to topple the government time and again, despite the Meghalaya Democratic Alliance partners refusing to partner with the Congress. He should play the role of constructive opposition and focus on issues and development concerning the State and not just try to play the power politics.” He said.
