Imphal, October 4, 2019:

Troops of Assam Rifles under IGAR (South) have apprehended two drug peddlers and seized a huge quantity of contraband items in Manipur.

Based on specific intelligence, the Assam Rifles had conducted a search at the Khudengthabi Check Post in Manipur’s Tengnoupal district.

On the evening of October 2, a silver-colored Eeco Van bearing registration number DL-04-AS-4404 was stopped at the check-post. After a thorough search of the vehicle, brown sugar weighing approximately 3.336 Kg, along with 20000 Ya ba tablets, worth over Rs 7.2 crore was seized.

The driver, identified as Jamminlian Vaipheu, was apprehended in relation to the case.

The apprehended, along with the seized contraband items, have been handed over to concerned authorities for further investigation.
