After the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 died a ‘natural death’ after it was not tabled in the Rajya Sabha, Cotton University students (who led many protests against the Bill) have another reason to celebrate. University students shone in the recently concluded 34th national inter-university Youth Fest held in Chandigarh University, Punjab. The event was held from February 1-February 5, 2019.

A group of Cotton University students participated and won a number of prizes including first prize in the prestigious ‘Cultural Procession Competition. The 27-member contingent was led by Muktikam Hazarika , faculty of the department of Mass Communication, Journalism and Media Studies, Cotton University. The other prizes include third in folk dance competition and fourth prize in folk orchestra and western-instrumental solo competitions.

Earlier in the East-zone inter-University festival held in Lalit Narayan Mithila University, Bihar (from 3 to 7 January 2019), Cotton University was adjudged overall champion in literary category. Cotton University also bagged the first-prize for performing Bihu under the folk-dance category in the zonal fest.
