NEW DELHI: Over 1.27 lakh new cases of coronavirus infection were reported in India, bringing the total number of COVID-19 infections to 2,81,75,044 cases, according to data from the Union Health Ministry.

There are currently 18,95,520 active cases with 2,59,47,629 persons having recovered from the condition.

The recovery rate continues to increase and stands at 92.09 per cent, as per the data.

According to official data updated at 8 a.m., a total of 1,27,510 new infections were recorded in a single day, while the mortality count rose to 3,31,895 with 2,795 daily new fatalities.

Cases have been falling during the past few days, according to the ministry, with daily new cases at their lowest level in 54 days.

The weekly positivity rate is at 8.64 percent, but the daily positivity rate has fallen to 6.62 percent.

According to the ministry, a total of 21,60,46,638 vaccination doses have been provided so far.
