Tripura BJP MLA and former Health Minister Sudip Roy Barman called a rally against the recent spate of crimes against women in the Northeast Indian State.
On Saturday, along with two other BJP MLAs, Barman went to GB hospital to visit the rape victim Sonamura. After observing the victim, Sudip was seen weeping and declared that he will organise a rally on crime against woman on 3rd January.
Sudip appealed to the people present in the rally to take an oath to stop crimes against women in the state.
Sudip Roy Barman also circulated a letter where he had stated that crimes against women are on the rise across the State.

He mentioned that girls from the age of 3-82 years old are victims of crimes against women in Tripura in recent times, and appealed to the people to end these dark acts.
It may be recalled that, on Friday, a school student of class nine was kidnapped by miscreants and later, she was dumped near a graveyard on Friday night.
The student was sent to hospital in unconscious condition, and she has admitted that she was raped by a gang.
The school student is now admitted in the GB hospital. On Saturday night, police has arrested a suspect who has been identified as Joy Miah in this case.
Meanwhile, the entire state is up-in-arms against the brutal gang rape. The opposition students unions like as SFI, NSUI, DSO and TSU also staged demonstrations against the rape incident.
The different student organisation submitted their memorandum to the police and demanded the immediate arrest of the culprits.
