Darjeeling, December 3, 2019:

Darjeeling MP Raju Bista on Tuesday demanded Parliamentary Committee Inquiry into the law and order situation prevailing in West Bengal.

Raju Bista while addressing the speaker at the Parliament stated that on November 29, 14 members of their alliance party Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) were arrested by West Bengal Police from various places of Darjeeling hills in the middle of the night, without citing any reason. They were made to sign on blank papers.”

Thumping a copy of the Constitution, Bista said, “I have read the constitution properly, and I can confidently say that the Constitution of India is not applied in West Bengal.”

The Darjeeling MP said, he will send a copy of the Constitution to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.

He also drew the attention of the Parliament to the blatant abuse and misuse of administrative machinery especially the Police to threaten, oppress, and terrorize political opponents by Trinamool Congress in West Bengal.

The MP highlighted, “Till date over 5000 youths from Darjeeling hills, Terai and Dooars have been forced to live in jungles because of WB Police hounding them relentlessly, as they fear for their lives.”

He added, “Over 150 BJP cadres have been murdered in West Bengal in the past few years, and yet no action has been taken by the WB Police.

Bista also mentioned that On October 22, 2019, there was an assassination attempt on him, and this despite having informed the Director-General of Police, West Bengal and local police about the threat perception he had felt.
