Licypriya Kangujam, the eight-year-old climate change activist who has been creating waves across India, wants Prime Minister Narendra Modi to pass the Climate Change Law.

Kangujam, also known as the Greta Thunberg of India, has requested the Prime Minister to pass the Climate Change Law at the earliest. In a message, written on a placard, the 8-year-old urges Modi to adopt planting a minimum of ten trees to all the students of the country. According to Kangujam, India can become green again in five years if her idea is adopted.

writes, “Dear Mr. Modi, pass the Climate Change Law to adopt planting minimum 10 trees to all students of India to pass their final exam. 350 million students x 10 trees = 3.5 billion trees a year! #FRIDAY4FUTURE #CLIMATEACTION Now, Act Now.”

Licypriya Kangujam from Manipur was one of the youngest speakers at the 2019 United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change held in Madrid. She had taken everyone by surprise when she confidently said, “I have come here to tell world leaders that this is the time to act and it is a real climate emergency.”

Prime Minister Modi earlier has voiced his concern over climate change. While addressing the United Nations Climate Action summit 2019, PM Modi said that India has come to the United Nations to present a practical approach and roadmap on the issue.
