COVID-19 Delta variant cases are in rise in Mizoram

AIZAWL: The Delta variant of COVID-19 was detected in 115 out of 151 Genome Sequencing samples sent to the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG).

According to Dr. Pachuau Lalmalsawma, Integrated Disease Surveillance Project (IDSP) Surveillance Officer, State Nodal Officer on COVID-19, the Department of Microbiology, Zoram Medical College (ZMC) has been sending COVID-19 positive samples from Mizoram to the NIBMG for Whole Genome Sequencing to see if the Variant strain has entered Mizoram.

He also said Delta Strain confirmed in Aizawl, Lunglei, Kolasib and Serchhip districts of Mizoram.

Zoram Medical College-a Microbiology Department prepared to send another 500 samples from Lunglei, Kolasib, Champhai leh Serchhip district to NIBMG for further check the state situation on COVID Variants.
