DHARAMSALA FRUIT VENDORS WILL BE RELOCATED AFTER A MONTH IN MANIPUR

Department of Municipal Administration, Housing & Urban Development (MAHUD) and Town Planning Minister Shri Thounaojam Shyamkumar today announced that the fruit vendors running their business at Dharamsala, Thangal Bazaar will be relocated to an appropriate place after a month. The matter will be put forward during cabinet meet regarding a suitable place for relocation, he added.  

Addressing media persons at his official quarter at Kanglapat, MAHUD Minister Th. Shyamkumar said he had a thorough discussion on the matter with the Chief Minister who is currently out of State. He informed that matter was also discussed with Deputy Chief Minister and representatives of Joint Action Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) women’s wing as well as student’s wing. Following the discussion, it was decided that fruit vendors will be given 30 days time so that they can be relocated to a suitable place, he added.

Speaking on the license issue, he said it requires Cabinet decision as the department has no authority on issuing license, although the department can renew the licence.

He also added all the necessary decision will be taken including implementation of Building Bye-laws in all the 27 urban local bodies once the Chief Minister returns back to the State.

He further said that detained volunteers of JCILPS will be released without any condition. It may be mentioned that the State Police yesterday detained the JCILPS volunteers after they vandalised the makeshift fruit stalls at Dharamsala, Thangal Bazaar.

MAHUD and Town Planning Minister Th. Shyamkumar also appealed to the general public to abide by the law in maintaining peace and tranquillity in the State.
